Opening of Castlery Orchard

Opening of Castlery Orchard

Emcee Singapore: Charmaine hosted the grand opening of Castlery’s sprawling 24,000 sq ft flagship studio spanning two levels and displaying more than 500 sets of furniture. It is the only local furniture chain that has an Orchard Road frontage, along with other popular and global brands.

Mr Declan Ee (President & Co-Founder), Mr Fred Ji (CEO & Co-Founder) and Mr Travers Tan (Co-Founder) started out as a small team in 2013 as a digital furniture store targeted at young Singapore urban millennials.

Castlery has now grown beyond Singapore. The company successfully leveraged upon its strong start here and expanded its innovative and strategic business model to overseas markets where the Singapore brand is trusted and appreciated.

Officiated by Minister of State for Trade and Industry, and Culture, Community and Youth, Low Yen Ling, the opening was attended by Mr Chua Tiam Poh (HoBee Founder), Mr Douglas Benjamin (Singapore Retailers Association VP), and Dilys Boey (Enterprise Singapore Deputy CEO).

While many retail brands struggled during the Covid-19 pandemic, furniture chain Castlery got a spring on its bottom line – its revenue grew by six times from 2019 to 2021 – from expansion into the United States market, among other factors.

The firm tapped help from Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) for its US branding and marketing campaigns in 2021. Castlery now draws 80 per cent of its revenue from abroad, including the US and Australia.

To create more such success stories and help Singapore retailers fly our flag high on the world stage, Minister of State for Trade and Industry Low Yen Ling announced a refreshed strategy – Retail Industry Transformation Map (ITM) 2025 to diversify overseas.

EnterpriseSG will work with e-commerce platforms to provide SMEs with access to global markets. EnterpriseSG will also partner Singapore Tourism Board to promote promising brands overseas.
