Pink Sweat$ in Singapore
Emcee Singapore: Charmaine had fun engaging Pink Sweat$ to render an on-the-spot vocal melody using local-flavoured lyrics.
Best known for his hit single “At My Worst”, the U.S. R&B and soul artist Pink Sweat$ was on a Pink Moon tour to Singapore and the region.
When Charmaine asked Pink Sweat$ how he would blend local phrases using must-know Singlish words “chiobu”, “steady” and “paktoh” in a song, the talented artist spontaneously improvised a love song in seconds. He sang a catchy “Hello chiobu can we go steady? Maybe we can even paktor together!” to the beat of a tambourine and shakers.
Since his rise to fame, the singer has collaborated with acts like Alec Benjamin, Honne, Kehlani and members of K-pop boyband SEVENTEEN.
Hailed by HYPEBEAST as “a bright new face in the R&B world,” the Philadelphia native has drawn international applause for his unique brand of genre-smashing contemporary soul, marked by lyrical complexity, melodic power, and true vocal majesty.
The Warner Music break-through star was nominated for “Best New Artist” at the 2019 Soul Train Awards, in addition to having performed at the show in Las Vegas, NV. Pink Sweat$ was also recently named BET’s Amplified Artist of the Month for January 2020.
