SSA 37th Anniversary Gala Dinner
Emcee Singapore: Charmaine hosted the Singapore Shipping Association’s 37th Anniversary Gala Dinner, attended by Guest-of-Honour Mr S Iswaran, Minister for Transport and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations and over 2,200 guests from the shipping and maritime industry.
In his keynote address, Mr S Iswaran announced the formation of the Alliance for Future Maritime Talent (AFMT) which aims to equip the maritime workforce with future-ready skillsets.
He said that the initiative will put Singapore in a favorable position in the face of global competition for maritime talent. The AFMT will review the emerging future maritime skills in the sector, including seafaring and shore-based maritime skills, as well as skills needed to enable sea-to-shore transition of seafarers.
Ms Caroline Yang, President of SSA, highlighted that the occasion was, for the first time in the history of SSA gala dinner, a carbon neutral event. She was proud that the SSA was doing its part for sustainability, and thanked the generous sponsorship of SDTR Marine and strong support from China Classification Society who provided their carbon certification expertise.
And it was especially memorable for Ms Yang as she was treated to a surprise birthday celebration at the gala dinner, considered the most prestigious ‘must-attend’ event for the shipping industry.
Together with the SSA Council Members and distinguished guests, emcee Singapore Charmaine Yee led the toast for continued prosperity of the maritime industry and more glorious years for SSA.
